Gridlock is one of those episodes where I find the basic premise so appallingly stupid, I can't enjoy it. It is definitely among my least favorite of all of them. Otherwise, I mostly agree with the rest of this.

Counterpoint: Gridlock features a catperson and a human woman having literal kittens as children, what more could you ask for?!?

Just wanted to say, as a Doctor Who casual, I'm really enjoying these.

Thanks, Zack!! Tbh, I was a little nervous about starting a Substack called "Girl Culture" and then bombarding everyone with Doctor Who content, so this is nice to hear!

BTW, Is there Face of Boe stuff in this episode?

I have not actually rewatched any NuWho since the original airings, but ever since the reveal or joke at the end of RTD's run, I have wanted to go back and see if there were any clues/evidence. It's really not important, which is part of why I have not done it, but I just wanted to see if it was true.

There is, yeah! He pops up throughout and then (spoiler alert) gets a quite moving death scene at the end of the episode. The Jack reveal happens at the end of S3 so you can feel the show writing to it a little bit more explicitly here with Boe calling the Doctor his "old friend."

I did not realize they had closed that mystery that quickly. I will have to rewatch at some point.
