I love this random thoughts format. It's very well suited for highlights of movies that don't merit a fuller write-up, but still very fun.
I'm very much a fan of the book this movie is adapting. I had a lot of fun with the movie, like a fun sitcom, but I will forever wish this had been a mini-series. The casting all-around is SO good (interesting accent choice from Uma Thurman notwithstanding). It just feels like a miss opportunity.
I, for one, have no problem with a distinction between movies worthy of a full review, and movies worth only your random thoughts. Save it for movies deserving of meatier criticism or praise.
Ha! I waited to read your review until I wrote mine and it was fascinating to see how much they changed from the source material. Also answered my question of why the movie was rooted in Alex's perspective instead of Henry's when Henry seemed to have the bigger arc — turns out they just cut Alex's arc and didn't give him a new one.
I just watched it the other day with my partner. We were both tired and wanted wolething to cheer us up. This movie did the job amazingly well! It was nice and fun and optimistic and cute and many other things.
I really like the format of your post, by the way, it gave me the impression that I was rewatching the movie with you, in a way 😊
The only thing that you did not point and that I found very pleasant was the way the dialogues are written. There are many very good one-liners and I think I will keep with me for a long time the "He grabbed my hair in a way that made me understand the difference between football and rugby".
Let me know if you like this kind of "random thoughts" format or if you prefer full-reviews! I'm curious to hear which is more enjoyable to read.

I mean, it’s impossible for me to enjoy anything related to this absolutely travesty of an adaptation, but the format is not the problem!
