I think I would like to read your review with spoilers! Would like your take on some of the female characters. I've watched Iron Man (2008) and Captain America (2011) at least 10 times each. I got invested. I got emo. I got schooled.

I've watched MoM half a time. No emo.

No emo for D&W - nothing at stake. Even the one-on-one fights. Both are indestructible at that level of violence so there's nothing at risk. Blade goes in bottom or crotch - haha, smile and move on. Multiversed nerds (comics, movies, TV, industry pages, celebrity pages) feel seen because they "get it", they're in the tent. Like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Reviewers who got all the industry references loved it because it made them feel like their time was well spent.

I laughed several times but at them - not with them (like for Iron Man). It is a cheaply clever film which I will see one more time max.

When it comes to the female characters, I'm mostly just annoyed that the first movie created such a great one in Morena Baccarin's Vanessa and then neither of the sequels have known what to do with her!

Love this observation - yes, they seemed to evolve her in the Hollywood (but not necessarily MCU) default of softening ("mommy-fying") a truly smart and forthright female character (which was needed in DP1), in DP2 by her quiet manner of revealing she wanted a child (even the fluffy sweater she wore when shot), and in D&W as kindly and empathetic as I've ever seen someone who's moved on, acting toward their ex. Complex evolves to simple. A bit patronising. Maybe a wasted opportunity. But MCU women tend to evolve the other way so....maybe....
